On Sunday evening, drones were observed over the military shooting range in Borris and perhaps also over the NATO depot in Dejbjerg. Several residents in the area also say that they heard shots at the same time as the sightings.
The information comes from a longer comment thread in the Facebook group 6900 Skjern.
The thread was started by a citizen who asked if others had seen or filmed drones over Borris around 8 p.m.
‘I saw it flying over Borris towards the camp. And I heard shots as it flew over the area,’ writes one member.
Another adds on Monday morning: ‘Yes, it came north and flew out towards the camp. Several series of automatic weapons were fired. It flew on. I think they are training’.
According to the Ministry of Defence’s activity overview, however, there were no reported shootings over the weekend.
More sightings
Henrik Grønbæk, one of the group’s members, describes his experience:
‘I was driving towards Borris from Skjern at 8:30 p.m. and saw a low-flying object that came out of Astrup/Faster and flew towards the camp east of Borris.’
He told Dagbladet on Monday morning that the drone almost flew in front of his car, and that he could sense something larger behind the flashing light.
- I live in Borris and have a clear view of the terrain. Later, I could see two drones over the area at the same time. They had lights on, and there was no doubt that they wanted to be seen, says Henrik Grønbæk.
- I reported the incident to the police. I could see both drones while I was talking to the officer, he says.
The sound of gunshots
The citizen who started the thread writes:
‘I was standing outside when it came, and heard gunshots afterwards. A married couple filmed it. I contacted the police, who thanked me and wanted to investigate the matter.’
Henrik Grønbæk did not hear any shots.
– But I was driving at the time and could not have heard it, he says.
Several other members of the group confirm that they also saw drones in the area:
‘I also saw it, filmed it and reported it,’ writes a woman.
‘Just reported to the police that a drone came from the south over Vostrup and flew straight north. It is now standing still over Dejbjerg, I think. And I can also see one over Borris. Two right now, 10:45 p.m.,’ says a man.
Another observation came from Tarm:
‘I saw one near Tarm at 10:30 p.m. and followed it to Ølgod,’ writes a woman, who later adds that she can now see two drones over Tarm. Another woman confirms the observation.
The military confirms drone activity
The police in Ringkøbing state that they have received inquiries about drones. The National Police refers to the Danish Armed Forces, as the sightings took place at military areas.
The Danish Armed Forces confirms that drones were seen over military installations in Denmark over the weekend, but refers to the Danish Armed Forces website and has no further comments – not even specifically to Borris and Dejbjerg.
The latest update from the Danish Armed Forces on drone incidents in Denmark is from Sunday, September 28th and does not cover Sunday’s sightings.
