“Unknown Object” Causes Temporary Closure of Billund Airport Airspace
An “unknown object” prompted a brief closure of the airspace over Billund Airport on Thursday morning.
According to the South East Jutland Police, the object was not visually identified and quickly left the security zone. The police told Ritzau that they are currently investigating the incident.
The closure affected air traffic, forcing a flight from Amsterdam, scheduled to land in Billund at 11:15 a.m., to divert to Aarhus Airport instead.
Data from Flightradar shows the aircraft was 236 meters above the ground when its landing was interrupted. Billund Airport’s press officer, Dan Prangsgaard, said the shutdown lasted about ten minutes.
