The Danish Armed Forces have established a temporary military area at Nordsøvej 4 in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn.
The Copenhagen Police announced this on the social media X. The police have given permission for the area to be active from Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. to Saturday at 12:00 p.m. During this period, the Danish Armed Forces will be responsible for guarding it.
TV 2 has contacted both the Danish Armed Forces and the Copenhagen Police for further comments.
Background: foreign soldiers and equipment
The Danish Armed Forces informed TV 2 that the cordoned off area is related to the arrival of foreign troops and military equipment, which will arrive in Denmark on Wednesday.
In a press release on Wednesday morning, the Danish Armed Forces emphasized that there will be an increased visibility of foreign forces in the country in the coming time. This is in response to the latest incidents in Danish airspace.
Previous examples of temporary military areas
This is not the first time that temporary military areas have been established in Denmark. Among the most recent examples are:
Køge Port (August 2024): The area was cordoned off in connection with the return of the Danish combat battalion from Latvia.
Esbjerg Port (June 2024): Here an area became temporarily military when allied equipment was sailed to the port and further into Europe.
Aarhus Port (2023): Established as a military area in connection with the arrival of American vehicles and equipment, for which Denmark provided host nation support.
