Next week, the EU’s 27 heads of state and government, several high-ranking EU representatives and a number of top officials will gather in the Danish capital for an EU summit.
A temporary drone ban was already in place over Copenhagen before the event. However, due to recent incidents involving unidentified drones near both critical infrastructure and military areas, the ban is now being extended to a nationwide civil drone ban, which will come into effect tomorrow.
Denmark is also receiving foreign assistance in its efforts to prevent illegal drone flights. Germany has offered support, which according to the Ministry of Defence includes the delivery of anti-drone equipment to strengthen Danish defence during the summit.
Sweden is also contributing. The Swedish Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, confirmed the other day that Swedish military anti-drone equipment will be made available to ensure that the summit can be held without disruption.
