Following the recent incidents involving drones over Denmark, NATO will strengthen its presence in the Baltic Sea region. This will be done by deploying “new capabilities” at several positions in the region.
The alliance informed Reuters in connection with a meeting in Latvia, where NATO’s military committee has been gathered.
The additional measures include, among other things, intensified intelligence work, surveillance and reconnaissance. In addition, at least one air defense frigate will be deployed to the area.
Earlier this year, NATO already expanded its efforts in the Baltic Sea under Operation Baltic Sentry.
