The tanker Pushpa, which has previously been near both Copenhagen Airport and several Jutland airports when drones were observed in September, has been stopped after an encounter with a French naval vessel in the Atlantic Ocean.
According to ship traffic data, Pushpa was escorted by the French vessel from Brest on September 27, until the ship changed course and sailed towards the coast west of Nantes, where it is now anchored. The naval vessel had its transponder switched off at times, which creates uncertainty about how long it followed the ship.
Security policy analyst Jacob Kaarsbo assesses that the situation may indicate that France has detained the ship, possibly at the Danish request. The French navy confirms that the matter is being investigated, but has not yet provided details.
