A number of Danish soldiers were urgently called up on Sunday due to drones in Danish airspace. According to sources, it is several hundred, but the extent is unclear, as the Defence Command has not commented. Urgent calls of this type are described as very unusual.
Security Advisor Jacob Kaarsbo assesses that the situation is extraordinary, and the call-up may be related to the upcoming EU summit in Copenhagen and the Russian presence in the vicinity.
The chairman of the reservist organization, Jesper Schneider, emphasizes that the reserve is often used for both training and tasks, and that the current situation shows why Denmark needs a large reserve personnel.
The Ministry of Defence refuses to comment on the matter and refers to the Defence Command, which has not responded.

Reserve personnel are part of the Defence Command’s daily task performance. They solve tasks for the Kingdom of Denmark every day – together with their regular colleagues.
The reserve contributes with robustness and is used, among other things, to add weight when the level of activity is high. Therefore, personnel from the reserve also perform service in the Armed Forces on these days. They do so in the same way as in connection with hundreds of other activities during a given year.
One may get the impression from the media reports that general mobilization measures or similar have been initiated in the Armed Forces. This is not the case.
