A Widerøe plane changed its route on Sunday evening and flew directly to Trondheim after a drone was seen near Brønnøysund Airport.
– A drone has been observed within the airport’s exclusion zone, and the police have been routinely informed, Avinor’s press officer Karoline Pedersen informs VG in an email.
According to Widerøe, it was flight WF 715, which came from Bodø and was to make a stopover in Brønnøysund on its way to Trondheim.
– As the plane approached Brønnøysund, the crew received a message from the tower about registered drone activity. They therefore went into “venting” at over 7,000 feet and circled around four times before the captain chose to abort the landing and continue directly to Værnes, Widerøe’s press officer Satha Sritharan tells VG.
Avinor emphasizes that flight safety is always the first priority:
– We take no chances when such sightings occur, writes Pedersen.
