Munich Airport was forced to suspend all air traffic again on Friday evening after reports of drones in the airspace.
According to a statement on the airport’s website, the shutdown is for an indefinite period and is described as a necessary safety measure.
- When drones are suspected in the area, passenger safety is always the top priority, the airport writes.
This is the second night in a row that one of Europe’s busiest airports has had to close due to drone reports.
On Thursday evening, shortly after 10 p.m., the German Air Traffic Service (DFS) first responded with flight restrictions, but shortly afterwards decided to suspend all traffic.
A total of 32 departures and arrivals and almost 3,000 travelers were affected before the airport could reopen on Friday morning.
